Thank you very Paul, you are so generous !
I first saw Marlene in the "flesh "when she arrived with her daughter Maria at the Theatre Royal stage door for a rehearsal for the Midnight Charity show. Myself and my friend John were the only ones there, apart from a photographer. The tickets were very expensive and all I could afford was a seat in the gallery, center front. It was a fantastic evening and a thrilling performance. After the show we waited at the stage door to see her leave, and she looked amazing, we later sneaked into the theatre and actually got onto the stage itself. We later walked to the Savoy, where she was staying and asked for some notepaper and envelopes to leave her a message asking for an autograph. Not long after we both recieved signed photographs. I still have some of that Savoy notepaper and envelopes. I lates saw her many times at the Queens theatre in London, and later many times at Wimbledon. There was always a great sense of anticipation amongst the audience. The only time I was disappointed was at Wimbledon when she wore Top Hat and Tails, and I really didn't think she looked good like that. She looked much better when she changed into her dress for the second half. She really was unforgettable on stage, and I will never forget the experience. Paul.
